Veronica's Bio

Veronica Butler is co-founder and Director of the Music Therapy Center of Houston. Veronica holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from Sam Houston State University, and Master’s degree in Education K-12, Assessment, Curriculum and Instruction from Walden University. Upon completing her clinical internship at The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research (T.I.R.R.) in Houston, Texas and shortly after completion her board exams, Veronica started her own music therapy contracting and consulting agency, Healing Tones. Over the years Veronica has worked with various populations including; early intervention, children with special needs, traumatic brain injury, stroke, spinal chord injury, Alzheimer's, adult psych, adolescent psych, Geri-psych, hospital and public school settings, as well as with camps, and private clients.

Additionally, Veronica is a Kindermusik, Educator for levels I & II, a Registered Massage Therapist (R.M.T.), with specializations in pregnancy/prenatal and child/infant massage as well as myofascial release, and a member of the Robert F. Unkefer Academy of Neurologic Music Therapists (NMT). Veronica has presented to various parent organizations and student organizations such as The Down Syndrome Association of Houston, Sam Houston State University Music Therapy Student Organization, University of Houston Teacher’s Master’s program and the University of Houston’s Department of Optometry. She was also asked to be an adjunct writer for the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and had the opportunity to serve as a Music Therapy/ Educational Consult to a school for children/ young adults with special needs in Agadir, Morocco in 2006.

Kate's Bio

Kate Harrison is co-founder and Director of the Music Therapy Center of Houston.  Kate graduated Magna Cum Laude with her Bachelor’s of Music in Music Therapy from Sam Houston State University.  After completing her clinical internship in Waco ISD and receiving her board certification, Kate started her own private practice, Kate Harrison Music Therapy.  She has been working with all age groups in the areas of autism, developmentally delayed, speech disorders, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury and psych.

Kate is currently the President of the Gulf Coast Music Therapists, an organization of professional and student music therapists within Houston and the surrounding areas who provide support to each other and educate the community about Music Therapy.  She is also a member of the Robert F. Unkefer Academy of Neurologic Music Therapists, receiving this designation from the Center for Biomedical Research in Music at Colorado State University.  In addition, Kate provides in-services and consults with numerous local facilities about music therapy and all that it entails.  Currently, Kate is the owner of Kate Harrison Music Therapy and also provides individual music therapy sessions within the Houston community.
